When the butterfly catcher is searching high and low It's better to stay on your tippy tippy toes Sometimes you need to stay so still But then sometimes you really need to... Fly, fly butterfly, fly, fly so high Fly, fly butterfly, fly, fly so high He'll never catch you even with a giant net Keep flying you will get away  Shake your wings, shake, shake, shake your wings Shake your wings, shake, shake, shake your wings

about

Dear listener,

I hope you enjoy this collection of songs. They are a celebration of a sweet and magical time when my son turned six years old, and when I had the great privilege to work closely with the East Harlem community and be inspired by them. There are songs in English and in Spanish about the seasons, about animals, about saying hello and saying goodbye. There are songs that invite us to let loose and dance, to fly high and not let the "butterfly catcher" get to us. There are songs that invite us to clean up after ourselves, and others that prepare us for a night of sweet dreams. And there are songs about counting and songs about celebrating who we are, and who our "tiny giants" are.

I want to give special thanks to Inginia García, Heather Mitchell and Traci Lester for giving me the opportunity to reach a part of the East Harlem community through the music classes offered at Little Sisters of the Assumption Family Health Services. To the wonderful mothers and children, and the dedicated teachers. To Angela Gómez for implementing these songs with joy and dedication in the music classes, and for her beautiful singing on many of the songs. To Juan Pablo Calvo and Sam Hoyt for being wonderful musical guests. To Alejandro Flórez for lending a new pair of ears and completely useful advice during the mixing process. To Monica Sanchez for her incomparable support and encouragement throughout this process, and finally to my son Manuel Arcadio, with a special dedication, for his uplifting presence throughout this entire album. To all of you, I'll see you soon, I hope. We'll make some noise!
